My Turn To Do An Infinity Scarf

While going through old blog posts, I've found a number of draft posts that I never polished up for publishing.  What a fun surprise!  It is, however, kind of weird looking at this post I wrote up nearly a year ago and seeing the pictures I took then. Does my hair always look like that?

Does anyone else out there enjoy a good infinity scarf?  I've loved looking at them, but haven't ventured into the world of making, or wearing them.  I figured it's high time I give both a try.  I sewed this infinity scarf up during nap time, while Jud slept, and Bo and Addie were playing Lego....it took maybe 15 minutes, but I am just loving the way it turned out!

It seems infinity scarves are everywhere!  And with an infinite number of tutorials spreading throughout the land of blog, I won't bother adding another to the options.  Instead, I'll just share my finished product and where I drew my inspiration from.
I actually made this for a friend of mine, her birthday was coming up and I thought she'd love something like this.  After seeing how easy it was though, I think I'll be making one {or two} for myself pronto!

If you go to Pinterest and search "infinity scarf" you'll be bombarded with many fantastic tutorials, a couple of favorites for me were the Single Loop Lace Infinity Scarf from Sweet Verbena,

and the Spring Infinity Scarf from The Cottage Home.

Both scarves are so pretty and feminine, and both have simple tutorials that are easy to follow, and well put together.  I made my scarf to be a double loop infinity scarf and used a light sheer summery fabric that I've had in my stash for quite some time.  Here's how mine turned out:

What do you think?  I hope my friend will like it, and that she'll get plenty of use out of it!

Be blessed,

I'm linking up!

Preparing for Baby

I am in a major nesting phase, and that makes me smile!

I have energy again, baby has dropped and I can breathe a little easier, it's glorious!  So the last couple of days have been big prep days.  I'm making extra food for the freezer, doing extra cleaning, and some fun sewing too.

Yesterday I made 8 dozen meatballs to have in the freezer.  I used the meatloaf recipe that comes on the back of Knorr Onion Soup Mix boxes.  Obviously, instead of making it into a meat loaf, I used my medium pampered chef cookie scoop and scooped up a whole lotta meatballs.  I prebaked them, froze them on a cookie sheet, then tossed them in bags for the freezer.  There is something just so stinkin' satisfying about having a whole bunch of meal prep done, just ready and waiting for a lazy or busy day.

Today I've made 8 dozen buns, and five loaves of bread, most of which are all destined for the freezer.  My go-to bread/bun recipe is this one from Taste of Homemade.  I usually add a handful of dry oatmeal, bran, flax seeds, etc.  I don't think this recipe has ever flopped on me, it's just lovely.

Something else I've done to help get this house ready for our newest addition is to write a big old checklist.  For those of you who know me personally, this should not surprise you :)  I'm sure you all know how great it feels to get some of those odd cleaning jobs taken care of.

One of the items on my list this time around was to completely clear out and reorganize our boys' bedroom closet.  It had become a one of those hiding places in our house, clothes that had been outgrown tossed on the high shelves, etc.  And, it was high time it all get sorted out.  I think I got at least one laundry basket heaping full of clothes out of there that immediately left our house and made the trip to the thrift store.  So good!  I did the same in our hall closet, our homeschool closet, and our games shelf. Really it all just needed to be reorganized and sorted through, we had just far too much stuff that just was not being used.

Another item on my list was to go through and reorganize my kitchen cupboards.  What a great feeling it was to get that out of the way!

What makes your list when you do a big clean up?

Hello Again...

Hi there.
It's me, Jen, and it's been a l-o-n-g time since I've posted anything here.

You may be asking, what happened?  Where have I been?
Well, I burned out, I got overwhelmed and I needed to take a huge step back from blogging.  I've been immersed in family life over the last 7 months, and I'm so glad I took the time to focus on just that.

Since last May a lot has changed in our household.  I'm now homeschooling my oldest, and expecting a new youngest pretty much any day now.  I've been growing my own small business, and have been learning so much about what my goals are and how to get there.  It's been a wild year and I wouldn't have had it any other way!

So what now?  Well, I'll be stopping back in here, just when I feel like it.  I'm not going to commit to a blogging schedule because that makes me stress and I just don't think a "for the fun of it" craft blog is worth stressing over!

So I'll leave you with that for now,
